Dry Needling
Dry needling is where trigger points and spasm are directly located and treated using acupuncture needles. Active trigger points are associated with muscular dysfunction and referred pain syndromes.
In simple terms, the treatment involves needling of a muscle's trigger points without injecting any substance.
The approach is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles. It should not to be confused with the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) technique of acupuncture. However, since the same filament needles are used in both dry needling and acupuncture, the confusion is understandable.
As a part of an overall neuromuscular treatment it is incredibly powerful!
Cost: from £45
‘Rob’s ability to apply expert dry needling as part of his treatment techniques has been invaluable in helping me to manage the incompatible physical demands of spending long hours working at a desk followed by over optimistic exertion of an ageing body in endurance sports.
Whether it’s been deployed in a supporting role with other treatment of the shoulder or the back, or as the first line of ‘attack’ to treat fatigued or strained lower limb muscles, the benefits of dry needling have always been quickly noticeable.
Rob’s needles, accompanied by sensible advice, are by far the quickest route back to optimum physical functioning.’
